Overcoming Barriers to Preventive Care of the Collections

In many developing museums the preservation of artifacts, particularly those containing organic materials, faces significant challenges due to inadequate storage conditions. High humidity levels, fluctuating temperatures, and lack of proper ventilation can accelerate the deterioration of these valuable cultural treasures.

Without appropriate intervention, organic artifacts such as textiles, wooden objects, and leather goods are susceptible to mold growth, insect infestation, and structural degradation. Preventive conservation interventions are crucial to address these issues.

In this 60-minute online session, our guest panelists will be Dr. Medhat Abd alla Abd elhamid, Director of Conservation. Saqqara Collections (Egypt) and Dr. Achal Pandya, Head of Conservation at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (India).

When: 18 October 2024

Time: 13:00 - 14:00 (Central European Time/Paris)
