Collection Care and Preservation Case Studies in Tropical Climates Conference

Venue: The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, St. Michael, Barbados, West Indies

Date: Tuesday, 3rd May 2011

This one day conference will focus and reflect on current Collection Care and Preservation, Practices in the Caribbean and/or ways of adapting current approaches from temperate climates to tropical conditions. Main topics of interest are (but not limited to): Disaster response; Collection migration; Pest treatments & integrated pest management; Storage and housing; Refurbishing and creating exhibition spaces; Making the move from restoration to conservation

There will be a mix of power point presentations and posters. The conference will be followed up by a round table discussion about the main concerns and direction of Caribbean Collection Care and Preservation. The event will be conducted in English. There are no funds to provide support to participate in this event. There will be a modest registration fee to cover expenses.

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and must include: the title of the presentation; the names and contact details of all contributors – mailing address, telephone number, present organisation and position

Absolute deadline for abstracts: March 25, 2011 You will be informed by April 1, 2011 if your proposal has been accepted.
