Glass and Ceramics Working Group
Triennial Programme 2008-2011
Meetings
Following the success of the interim meeting in Nova Gorica (SL) in 2007, the Working Group is organising another mid-term interim meeting in which contributions will again be published as preprints. As a result of an invitation from the Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG), the meeting will be held from 3 to 6 October 2010, in Corning, New York (USA). The Working Group will also work for a significant contribution to the next ICOM-CC 16th Triennial Conference in Lisbon 2011.
Electronic Communication
The Working Group regularly publishes a newsletter for electronic distribution to its members and other interested persons. The Working Group section of the new website of ICOM-CC will be updated at regular intervals. E-mail lists will be used for quick communication.
Specialty Groups
The WG organises special interest groups on topics which are relevant to sections of its membership. These groups develop and update bibliographies and maintain e-mail lists for their internal communication. The following topics will be covered:
ENAMEL:
The Enamel on Metals Conservation Network (EMCN) will continue its work. The next experts’ meeting will take place on 8-9 October 2010, in New York at the Frick Collection.
GLASS DETERIORATION:
The Glass Deterioration Group (GDG) will continue its work on its bibliography and update its directory of members and research interests.
HISTORY:
A new group is focussed on the history of ceramics conservation. Special topics include old conservation materials and the history of the profession.
