Metal 2010 Interim Meeting 


METAL 2010 took place in Charleston South Carolina from October 11-15 2010, and was held for the first time in the United States. The conference featured an outstanding program that included both conservation practice and conservation science. Presentations from individuals representing universities, national research laboratories, conservators in private practice and many renowned cultural institutions from around the world provided great opportunity to discuss current issues in the conservation of metal objects. Over 120 people attended the conference from all over the world.

The conference featured 12 engaging sessions with the following themes: Treatment of Archaeological Iron; Conservation of Marine Archaeological Objects; Materials Characterization and Identification; Case Studies; Coatings and Corrosion Inhibition; Corrosion and Deterioration Studies; X-ray Fluorescence Analysis; Technical Studies; Caring for Outdoor Cultural Heritage; Engineering and 3D Technology in Conservation; Preventive Conservation and Innovative Techniques.
